The Emerging Leadership Project (ELP), one of Federation’s newest programs, is a collaboration between Federation’s Campaign Department and the Mandel Center for Excellence in Leadership. This two-year program’s purpose is to create content-based programming for young professionals with the understanding that the future of our community depends upon the strength of this generation’s leadership. The program is designed to nurture and develop the next generation of Federation and Jewish communal leadership.
During the first year, participants will attend eight monthly sessions, followed by a year of project-based experience building. They will learn about Federation, its affiliated agencies and overseas partners, and how they can make a difference in the global Jewish community, while strengthening their skills regarding committee and board of directors dynamics. Upon completion of the ELP, participants will be poised for success as they take their place among the very best leaders in the Jewish community. Additionally, one of the inaugural project graduates will become the next class chair.
More than 60 young professionals were nominated to participate in the 2009-2010 Emerging Leadership Project, chaired by Craig Storch, a current member of Federation’s Board of Directors. Seventeen participants were accepted for the first year.
